A Spring Refresh

Spring Basket on Front Door

With spring around the corner, there’s no better time to look at the rooms in our homes with fresh eyes and create a new sense of beginning. Over the past year, all at once, our homes have become our office, restaurant, school and gym. Staying at home has become the new norm.

At Grace, we love creating warm and inviting interiors that fulfill who you are and the way you want to live. In helping clients find their inner home, I encourage them to reclaim their space. Start simple. And that begins with clearing away clutter and getting organized. The beauty of restoring your space is that you’ll find more room and eliminate clutter at a time when it can make the most difference.

If your wardrobe closet is unwieldy, you’re already starting off your day stressfully.  If your pantry is poorly arranged, you might be buying duplicate items because you can’t find what you’re looking for. Another annoyance is disorganization, where what you have collects throughout your house, adding to your clutter. Think of having uncluttered space like having an uncluttered mind.

Overcoming clutter restores balance and instills calm.  It’s a DIY project and you can donate your surplus to help someone else.  The hardest part is starting, but you can work at your own pace, and manage the amount of clearing you do at one time.

Here are a few tips to get you going.

Compile your recipes, warranties and instruction manuals into three-ring binders to keep everything right at your fingertips. You’ll save time and stress by not having to dig out what you’re looking for.

Plan your storage like a real estate pro.  Keep items that you use frequently within prime reach, and move the rest to upper storage areas.  Easy reach is prime real estate for storage, something to keep in mind as your plan your own space.

Make your bed. It’s true that a made bed makes your room look so much more inviting and serene.  It’s a simple practice that works because it gives us a small, tangible form of control over our environment.

Embark upon restoring your space as a journey. It starts with the first step. The hardest part is starting, but I promise, you’ll be glad you did.

Happy Spring!
